Anne Nelson was an inspiration to beauty and civility. Her manners, decorum, caring and kind presence was a true gift.
Anne and I shared a lot through life: dinners, books, Woman's Club, and she helped to found our dear non-profit, the Auburn Education Foundation of which she served as secretary for 10 years.
Anne also lived just up Central Street from me and we enjoyed surprising each other with "little itty bitty cards" at Christmas time. We both would deliver our card as secretly as possible....never getting caught by each other....seeing who could give the tiniest card each year. Anne ALWAYS won....she would never divulge where she was able to find such unique items, but they always brought great joy and giggles!
We also liked to go to various places either for a good lunch, something off the beaten track, art, antique homes, great music.....Anne was a friend who you could share the unusual with.
Memories and Wisdom:
1. When you go into a gift shop only buy one thing and make sure it is something you can live with....but, look at everything!
2. Everything is better with butter! That how she made me feel good when I ordered the high caloric food and she had the salad!
3. Going to Deerfield for antiques, historic home visits, and music concerts.
4. Finding vegetable stands MILES away! But, the corn was good!
5. Chaperoning Music trips for the High School.
6. She made the best comfort baskets when my Dad and Dennis passed. So thoughtful.
I am going to miss Anne so much. Hope the flowers in heaven are beautiful, may the music be glorious, and the art rich.
Love, Beth
