Hi..very random but I went to school with Derek for one year in second grade at Hamilton elementary. He was one of the kindest kids and I always felt he was treated unfairly and yet he was always kind. I googled just to see if I could find him on Facebook and I found this obituary. And the time the date age all match and his face looks so similar to when we were young. I was hoping to find him on Facebook. He invited me to his classes I’ve always remembered how kind he was and I’m deeply sorry to hear he passed. I’m going to plant a tree in his honor. Blessing. Just know he made lasting impressions on people. I’ve always remembered his gentle nature.
