Obituary for Josephine A. Wagner

Josephine A.  Wagner
- Josephine A. (Giovanelli) “Nonny” Wagner 96, passed away June 9, 2015 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home surrounded by her loving family.

She was married on July 5, 1941 to her high school sweetheart, Walter J. Wagner who predeceased her in December 1981. She leaves her children, Pat Gulbicki and her husband, Bill of Auburn, a son, Walter J Wagner Jr., and his wife, Janet with whom she lived and daughter, Cathy Maniero both of Shrewsbury. She leaves nine grandchildren, Kevin, Dennis and Gary Martin, Julie LaRose, Lori Scricco and Lisa Wagner, Billy and Melissa Gulbicki and David M. Maniero; fifteen great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, including Nancy Brunelle who was more like a daughter and great support system throughout the years ,her best friend and sister in laws Mary (Wagner) Saunier, Doris Wagner and her scrabble partner Susan Davolio Mitchell.

Josephine was born in Shrewsbury, daughter of the late Giovanni and Anna (DeRosa) Giovanelli. She was predeceased by her daughter, Joan Martin in 2010; son in law, David G Maniero in January; two sisters, Mary Minardi, Laura Fulginiti and a brother, Bonifacio (Bennie) Giovanelli.

She was a lifelong resident of Shrewsbury and graduated from David Hale Fanning Girls Trade School as a talented seamstress. Her greatest joy in life was her family; she especially enjoyed being in Maine and at the beach with them. She was a word wiz with scrabble, word search and crossword puzzles; she also enjoyed making Italian cookies, ceramics, watching the Red Sox, fishing and ice fishing. Josephine was always ready to go, never without a smile on her face; her favorite saying was “Que Sera Sera” !

Josephine’s family would like to send a special thank you to the staff as Rose Monahan Home for their care and compassion, especially Michelle and Erica.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Josephine’s family on Friday, June 12, 2015 from 9:00-11:00AM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St, Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will follow and be celebrated at 11:30 AM in Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In Lieu of flowers donations are asked to be made to Dylan's Domination on behalf of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, http://fightcf.cff.org/goto/dylansdomination or checks can be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and sent to the Wagner family, on behalf of her great grandson Dylan Scricco.
