Ronald "Mitch"  Mitchell
Ronald “Mitch” Mitchell, of Spencer and Shrewsbury died Wednesday April 15, 2015 in Beth Israel Hospital in Boston after an illness surrounded by his loving family.

Ron leaves his wife, Susan (Davolio) Mitchell; two sons, David Mitchell and his wife, Toni of Spencer and Steven Mitchell of Worcester; six siblings, Mona McCarthy and her husband, Michael of Shrewsbury, Rita Vermeesch and her husband, Roy of Pompano Beach, FL, Theresa Tokla of Mashpee, Michael Mitchell and his wife, Sherry of Grafton, William Mitchell and his wife, Kathleen of Boylston and Robert Mitchell and his partner Richard Decareau of Southbridge; two grandchildren, Sara Underwood and her husband, Lee of Worcester and James Coughlin, Jr., and his wife, Ashley of Las Vegas; one great grandson, Ryan Underwood; also brothers and sisters-in-law Michael Davolio and his wife, Debbie, Steven Davolio and his wife, Sharon, Jim Davolio and his wife, Joanna, Frank Davolio and his wife, Chris, Lee Davolio, Linda Davolio, Janet Wagner and her husband, Wally; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his first wife, Teresa (Bartolamei) Mitchell and brother-in-law, Herbie Tokla.

He was born and raised in Holden, son of the late John W. and Ida R. (Teso) Mitchell. He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School he majored in Carpentry and Cabinet making. He lived in Spencer for many years where he coached for the Spencer Little League when his boys were young.

Ron had spent most of his working career as a self-employed builder and cabinet maker; he spent 20 years working at Old Sturbridge Village before he retired in 2002.

Ron was always active throughout his life and held several memberships including being a member of Redemption Rock Church in Westminster, a member of SAC in Shrewsbury; and volunteered for many fundraisers for Easter Seal of Massachusetts, and where he was the Master of Ceremonies for many events. He also was an avid bowler and held many AMC titles, he was a motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed fishing and camping.


Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Ron’s family on Sunday, April 19, 2015 from 2-5 PM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. A service celebrating his life will be on Monday at 10 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mary Queen of the Rosary Cemetery, Spencer. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his memory to Easter Seals of Massachusetts, 484, Main St, Worcester, MA 01608, Redemption Rock Church, 3 Hager Park Road, Westminster, MA 01473 or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA 01701
