Obituary for George R. Harris
SHREWSBURY- George R. “Bob” Harris, 80, of Shrewsbury died unexpectedly on Saturday after being stricken at home.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Lorraine (Potvin) Harris, and their children; Mark Harris and his wife Nancy of Shrewsbury, Debora MacLean and her husband Brian of Abington, and Chris Harris of Shrewsbury, eight loving grandchildren; Matthew MacLean, Kevin MacLean, Robert Harris, Erin Harris, Bryan Harris, Jenna McKnight, Kim Hardy, Rob Hardy and a great grandchild Braiden McKnight, and sisters; Louise Hadley of Holden, Evelyn Messier, and Dorothy Whitney both of Worcester. Lillian Soderberg, Charlotte Harris, John Harris, Nel Fahy, Leoda Frappier, and Edward Harris all predecease him.
George was born in Worcester; he was the son of the late George P. and Emma (Vient) Harris. He graduated from North High and worked for Nabisco for several years before becoming co-owner of Central Steel Rule Die, Worcester. He served in the Air National Guard for 9 years, and was a member of St. Mary’s Parish for over 50 years.
George was a kind and loving family man who enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s races and football games. He also enjoyed vacationing on Cape Cod, watching Notre-Dame football, following all the New England Sports teams and playing cards.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours from 4-7pm on Tuesday July 1, 2014 in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street. His funeral will be held Wednesday July 2, 2014 from the funeral home with a Mass celebrated at 11:00 AM in St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street in Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery.
