Denis R.J. Roy, 65, of Shrewsbury died suddenly on Saturday, August 24, 2013.

He leaves his wife and best friend of 46 years, Suzanne E. (Hardy) Roy; his children, Jennifer F. Dolat and her husband, Joseph of Holden; Denis Andrew Roy and his wife, Jacqueline of San Francisco, CA, and Meridith L. Buono and her husband, Gary of Shrewsbury; five grandchildren, Allison, Juliana, Olivia, Eliana and Sophia; two sisters, Paulette Wilkinson of Millbury and her husband William and Suzanne Roy of Toronto, Canada. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Frances Hardy of Shrewsbury; sister-in-law, Deborah Tebo and her husband, Walter of Brewster and brother-in-law, Richard Hardy of Shrewsbury, five nephews, and many cousins.

Denis was born in Worcester and raised in Millbury, MA, son of the late Jeannine (Forget) Roy and Rene I. Roy. He graduated from Holy Name High School in Worcester and received his BS in Chemical Engineering from Lowell Tech, now known as UMASS-Lowell.

Denis was dedicated to his career in engineering. He worked tirelessly alongside his longtime friend and business colleague, Les Bebchick, at Equipment & Systems for Industry, Inc. and Engineering Technologies Group of Hopkinton, MA. He enjoyed reading science fiction novels and gardening in his spare time. But, more than anything, he enjoyed spending time with his family and in particular his grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mr. Roy’s family on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 AM at Saint Mary of the Hills Church, 630 Cross St, Boylston, MA on Thursday, August 29, 2013. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.
