Obituary for Malini Mayerhauser (Balakrishnan)

Malini  Mayerhauser (Balakrishnan)
Malini Balakrishnan Mayerhauser, devoted wife and mother, passed away peacefully on August 3, 2013 at her home in North Grafton, Massachusetts with family at her side. She was 39 years old. Malini was born on May 13, 1974 to Drs. Saidapet and Elita Balakrishnan. Formerly a resident of Orangeburg, New York, Malini graduated in 1992 from Pearl River High School where she was an accomplished track star. Malini earned a B.S. in Education from Boston University and a Masters in Education from Harvard University. She dedicated her career to teaching science at the Edward Everett School in Dorchester. She married her college sweetheart, Jeffrey, and became a mother of two sons, Aedan and Jake. Malini spent the final years of her young life actively fundraising for several charities, hoping to help fund the cure for cancer through her inspiring efforts.

She will be remembered by all for her immense courage and strength of spirit.

Malini is survived by her husband Jeffrey, her children Aedan and Jake, her mother Elita, sisters Padmini Connelly and Revathi Mistry, brothers-in-law Christopher Connelly, Samir Mistry, Paul Mayerhauser, and John Mayerhauser, mother-in-law Carol Mayerhauser, sister-in-law Kathy Mayerhauser, her nieces and nephews, Michael, Grace, and Angela Connelly, and Leah Mayerhauser.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, August 8th from 4-7 PM at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury, MA. Her funeral will be held on Friday, August 9th with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 at Saint Mary’s Church, (please go directly to the church) 19 Waterville Street, North Grafton, MA.
