Obituary for Jeanne C. Gannon (Brodeur)

Jeanne C. (Brodeur) Gannon, 87, of Shrewsbury, died Friday, February 8, 2013, in her home with her loving family by her side.

Her husband and best friend of 29 years, Shafick “Jack” Gannon, died in 1980. She leaves three daughters, Paula Jeanne Gannon and her husband, Anthony Connor of Riverdale, NY, Donna Marie Flanagan of Norwood and Deborah Anne Whelan and her husband, Peter of Shrewsbury; two sisters, Rita Bouthillier and Doris Kalil both of Shrewsbury; eight grandchildren, Melissa Flanagan, Peter Flanagan, James Flanagan, Stephanie Flanagan, Gregory Whelan, Meaghan Whelan, David Connor and Paul Connor; two great grandchildren, Noelle Flanagan and Christopher Paul; and is also survived by ten nephews, eight nieces and many many friends. Jeanne was predeceased by a beloved granddaughter, Elizabeth Whelan; three brothers and two sisters.

Jeanne was born and raised in Worcester, youngest of eight children, daughter of the late Wilfrid and Alberta (David) Brodeur. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1943.

Jeanne was a long-time dedicated employee of the Town of Shrewsbury. She started her career with the Town in the Treasurer's Department and later worked for the Light Department for many years, retiring in 1995.

She was a faithful member of Saint Mary’s Parish for over 60 years. Jeanne was also a member of the Shrewsbury Women’s Business Club. She enjoyed traveling, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jeanne’s family on Tuesday, February 12, 2013 from 5-8 PM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St, Shrewsbury. A funeral Mass celebrating Jeanne’s life will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main St., Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. A special fund is underway in Jeanne’s memory; it will be dedicated to Special Needs Children in Shrewsbury.
