Obituary for
Robert C. Gwyther
Oxford- Robert C. “Boppie” Gwyther, 87 of Oxford, died Saturday in the Ichabod Washburn Hospice Residence after an illness.
He was born in Worcester; he was the son of the late John and Elin (Wilson) Gwyther.
Robert is survived by his two daughters Marjorie Sandy and her husband Rich and their daughter Elin of Slidell, LA, Joyce Humphrey and her husband John and her daughter Callie of Auburn, two sons Ronald and his wife Donna (Liberty) of Oxford, and Russell and his wife Sandy (Gingras) of Paxton and their children Alen & Erica, a brother Ralph and his wife Jessie of Havelock, NC, a sister-in-law Peg Gwyther of Webster, and several nieces and nephews.
Robert also leaves Kevin and Eric Doray whom he considered grandsons.
Bob was predeceased by his wife Natalie (Pilet), a brother Richard, a sister Grace, an infant son, a grandson Ronald Jr. “Beege”.
Bob worked for EJ Cross as a master painter for nearly 50 years. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Submarine Corps aboard the USS Besugo and the USS Charr. Bob was a member of the American Legion and the Painters Allied Union.
He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was an avid sports fan and faithful fan of the Red Sox and Patriots.
