Joseph B. Dellagala
October 11, 1921 - March 2, 2010
Joseph B. Dellagala, 88, of Shrewsbury, passed away Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Millbury Healthcare in Millbury, MA with his loving family by his side.

He leaves his beloved wife of 65 years, Esther E. (Pecorelli) Dellagala; his daughter-in-law, MaryJane (Riggieri) Dellagala of Shrewsbury; he was known as “Pepa” to his two cherished granddaughters, Stacey M. Beer and Jennifer D. Arsenault and her husband, Christopher of Shrewsbury; he also leaves his five adoring great grandchildren, Ryan and Alexa Beer and Evan, Will and Matthew Arsenault; his sister, Theresa Scricco; several nieces and nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his two wonderful sons, Stephen M. and Joseph J. Dellagala.

Joe was born in Naples, Italy, son of the late Samuel and Phyllis (DiRienzo) Dellagala. He immigrated to the United States with his family as a young boy where they settled in Worcester and he graduated from North High School. He served his country proudly with the United States Army during World War II. Later in Joe’s life, he continued his education and graduated from WPI with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering.

Joe retired in 1987, from the Wright Line Corporation in Worcester where he served as Manager for several years. He previously had worked many years in the Engineering Department at Phalo Wire and Cable Corporation.

After retirement Joe and his wife, Esther had moved to Mashpee, MA on Cape Cod, where he was very active throughout the community and also where he was named Senior Citizen of the year in 2000. They later moved back to Shrewsbury in 2005 to be closer to their loving family.

He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Parish in Shrewsbury and was a long time member of the DAV.


Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mr. Dellagala’s family on Friday, March 5th from 5-8 P.M. in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 6th at 10 A.M. in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main St. Shrewsbury. Burial with military honors will be in the family lot Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Memorial contributions can be made to, Veterans Inc., 69 Grove Street, Worcester, MA 01605.
