Biography

AUBURN-Wanda J. (Gurski) Kolodziejczak, 76, of Auburn, died peacefully on Thursday, February 4th in the Life Care Center of Auburn, after a brief, illness.

She leaves her three children, Jay Kolodziejczak of Boylston, Martin Kolodziejczak and his wife Michele of Sutton, and Justine Shafknacker and her husband Michael of Clinton, CT; her three wonderful granddaughters, Olivia, Jordan and Elena; her two sisters, Phyllis Gurski of Worcester and Loretta Caruso of Haverhill, and her dearest friend, Patricia Lariviere of Worcester. She was predeceased by her husband, Jerome P. Kolodziejczak.
She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Joseph and Celia Gurski and graduated from Saint Mary’s High School and the former Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, Worcester. After several years in the nursing field, Wanda spent her time raising and caring for her children and family. She was a longtime resident of Auburn. Wanda loved animals. She was a loyal member of the MSPCA and World Wildlife Fund,and was a regular supporter of the Bosler Humane Society throughout her life. She participated in fundraising for charitable organizations for many years, most recently for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Her greatest joy was being able to work outside gardening in her yard, as well as spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, February 8th from 5-7 PM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, February 9th from the funeral home with a Mass celebrated at 11 Am in Saint Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford St., Auburn. Following cremation, burial in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester will be private.
