Obituary for Marguerite A Simmons (Brosnihan)

Marguerite A Simmons (Brosnihan)
Marguerite A. (Brosnihan) Simmons, 90, died Monday at Coleman House in Northborough surrounded by her loving family.

Marguerite “Peg” was born in Worcester, of Irish immigrants Timothy D. and Margaret M. (Donohue) Brosnihan and raised in Worcester. She married the love of her life, Alfred J. Simmons on February 8, 1947, at Sacred Heart Church in Worcester. They moved to Shrewsbury in 1956, to raise their family. She was a devoted and active member of St. Mary Church, Shrewsbury.

Alfred, her husband of 65 years, predeceased her in 2012. Peg is survived by her children: Carol A. Forchielli and her husband, Kenneth, and Brian F. Simmons, all of Shrewsbury; her son-in-law, Michael Pagano of Shrewsbury; her grandchildren: Kelley Pagano and her husband, Sam of Seattle, WA, Melissa Forchielli-DeMars and her husband, Edward of Westborough, Jennifer (Pagano) Albrecht and her husband, Brian of Cambridge, and Marc Forchielli and his wife, Jill of Holliston; her great-grandchildren: Reese, Marin, Ian, Mia, Nicholas, and Zachary; a cousin, Mary Ryan of Worcester, and many deeply loved nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, Peg was predeceased by her daughter, Diane M. Pagano; brothers: Francis, John, and Timothy Brosnihan and a sister, Rita Bajorin.

Peg worked for many years in food service and retired as the Cafeteria Manager at Johnson Steel & Wire in Worcester. Previously, she could be seen as a welcoming and smiling waitress at Nick’s Grille and The Broadway Diner both in Worcester. After retirement, Peg, Fred, and their extended families spent many winters at the “family compound” in Bradenton, Florida.

Family and friends are invited to remember Peg’s life by gathering for a calling hour in the BRITTON-SHREWSBURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury on Wednesday, November 29, 2017 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. and for a prayer service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at a later date in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester. Honor Peg’s memory with a contribution to: your own life. Take a vacation, have a party with the ones you love, hug your family and tell them how much you appreciate their presence in your life. If you wish, donate to Coleman House Activities Dept. 112 W. Main St., Northborough, MA 01532, or Jewish Hospice Care 629 Salisbury St., Worcester, MA 01609.
