AUBURN- Maureen F. (Van Winkle) Young, 68, Lifelong resident of Auburn died peacefully with her family after a brief illness on Saturday August 19, 2017.

Maureen was born in Worcester daughter of the late William L. “Rip” VanWinkle and Jane M. (McCallum) VanWinkle. She graduated from Auburn High School with the Class of 1967.

Maureen had worked for over fifteen years as an Operations Specialist for Flagship Bank in Worcester before she retired. She previously had worked for Thom McAn in Worcester where she met her loving husband Richard.

She leaves her loving family, her husband of 45years, Richard B. Young; her daughter, Meghan F. Daniels and her husband Peter of Shrewsbury, two sons, Michael B. Young of Shrewsbury and Brian P. Young of Auburn; her mother, Jane M. (McCallum) VanWinkle of Auburn, a brother, John F. VanWinkle and his wife Nancy of North Oxford and many nieces and nephews. Besides her father, Maureen was predeceased by a brother, William J. VanWinkle in 2004.

Maureen lived for her family, and they always came first. When her children were school aged she became a “Soccer and Dance Mom” and loved every minute of it. She also was involved in Campfire and the Auburn Knights of Columbus Bowling League where she held the position of Treasurer for many years. Maureen enjoyed the good times with her friends at the Auburn K of C and her Friday Nights out with her friend Sue for Karaoke.

Maureen’s family wishes to thank the Doctors and Nurses in the ICU at St. Vincent Hospital for the great care and comfort shown to Maureen and her family during her stay there.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Maureen’s family on Thursday August 24, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 PM in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral will be on Friday August 25, 2017 from the funeral home with a funeral Mass at 10:00 am in North American Martyr’s Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association (www.lung.org).
