Nancy J. (Brote) Copeland, 81, of Auburn died Saturday August 6, 2016 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Carl and Helga (Nelson) Brote. Nancy graduated from Commerce High School in 1953 and later attended classes for Early Childhood Education.

Nancy had worked as a Nursery School Teacher for many years at Bethel Lutheran Church Nursery School and Pakachoag Acres before she retired. She also enjoyed crafts and had worked at Images and Rainbows Craft Store in Auburn and was a Leader with the Camp Fire Girls Association. Her other enjoyments in her life were gardening, baking, sewing, and most importantly spending time with her family.

She leaves her husband of 61 years, Steven L. Copeland; four children, Mark S. Copeland and his wife Betty of Millbury, Neil B. Copeland and his wife Lori-Ann of Auburn, Cathy L. Usher and her husband Daniel of Randolph, Maine and Tammie L. Copeland of Auburn; two grandchildren, Ian Copeland and his wife, Elizabeth of Millbury and Casey Avalos and her husband, Marco of Auburn; three step grandchildren, Amanda, Grace and Daniel, Jr; also survived by a sister, Hazel Bates of Worcester and several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Nancy’s family on Thursday, August 11, 2016 from 10-11 AM in the Bethel Lutheran Church, 90 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Auburn. A service celebrating her life will follow at 11 AM. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Central MA Hospice, 191 Pakachoag Street, Auburn.
