Margaret M. “Peg” (Ryder) Head, 91, a longtime Shrewsbury resident died Wednesday June 15, 2016 in Littleton, New Hampshire after an illness.

Her husband of 43 years, Joseph Head predeceased her in 1992. She leaves her son, Joseph M. Head and his wife Kathy of Littleton, NH whom Peg lived with the past 20 months; a granddaughter Katelyn M. Carpenter and her husband, Richard of Littleton, NH; two great grandchildren, Rowan and Shaeley Carpenter; also survived by two nieces, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Ryder and two sisters, Mary Bernier and Ann Diggin.

Peg was born in Worcester daughter of the late Michael J. and Annie M. (Walsh) Ryder. She graduated from Saint Peter’s High School in Worcester. Peg then started her working career as an operator for over 28 years at New England Telephone and AT&T before retiring.

Peg was a faithful member of Saint Mary’s Parish in Shrewsbury and a member of the Telephone Pioneers.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Peg’s family on Saturday June 25, 2016 from 9:00-10:00am in the BRITTON-SHREWBSURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to North Country Home Health Agency, 536 Cottage Street, Littleton, NH 03561.
