Obituary for Paul Lionel Maillet

Paul Lionel  Maillet
AUBURN - Paul L. Maillet, 79, of Auburn passed away Sunday, May 8, 2016 surrounded by his loving family in Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center after a period of declining health.

Paul was born in Worcester to the late Alban and Helena (Arsenault) Maillet. He was a United States Air Force veteran and worked as a foreman at R.H. White Construction Company in Auburn for 45 years before retiring in 2005. He was a long time member of the Knights of Columbus. Paul was an avid New England Sports fan with his favorite team being the Boston Red Sox. He loved his old time country music, never ending episodes of Family Feud, mowing his lawn, spending time with family and friends on Cape Cod and taking trips to Mohegan Sun. Most of all Paul enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Paul’s family will miss his sense of humor and ability to bring joy to family gatherings.

He leaves behind his wife of 52 years, Judith (Jeffrey) Maillet, two sons; Kevin Maillet and his wife, Meaghan of Vienna VA, Brian Maillet and his wife, Stacey of Auburn; a daughter, Laurie Callahan and her husband, Scott of Oxford, 4 grandchildren; Meaghan and Riley Callahan of Oxford and Thomas and Adam Maillet of Auburn, four sisters; Yvette Cove of S. Yarmouth, Jeannine Maillet of Auburn, Carmen Dion and her husband, Richard of Grafton, and Delma Ethier and her husband, Edward of Marlborough, and a brother; Donald Maillet and his wife, Lorraine of Millbury, brother-in-law, Veto Filipkowski. He was predeceased by his sister, Claudette Filipkowski of Westborough, a brother George Maillet of Melbourne FL, brother in laws Robert Cove of South Yarmouth and John Jeffrey of Albany NY. Paul is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at St. Vincent’s Hospital, Beaumont Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center and Salmon VNA & Hospice for their exceptional care of Paul. A special shout out to Lolo, the “go to lady” for bringing much needed laughter to our family during this difficult time.

Calling hours will be Monday, May 16, 2016 from 4-7 pm in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn His funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. in Saint Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street N. in Auburn. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St Johns Church, Food for the Poor Center, 44 Temple St., Worcester MA 01604.
