Obituary for Remo J. Soloperto

Remo J.  Soloperto
AUBURN- Remo Soloperto, 87, of Auburn died Sunday January 31, 2016 at Notre Dame Long Term Care in Worcester surrounded by his loving family.

Remo was born and raised in Worcester, son of the late Pasquale and Theresa (Paletta) Soloperto. He graduated from Commerce High School in 1946 and went on to receive his degree in Architectural Construction from Wentworth Institute of Technology. Just after receiving his degree in May of 1952 he joined the United States Army where he served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict.

On November 8, 1952 Remo married Virginia Ricardi. After he returned from the war he and Virginia began their life together. They built a home in Auburn where they raised their four children. For 40 years he worked as a civil engineer for Bayer & Mingolla Construction Company in Millbury and Caprera Construction in Boylston.

He was a long time member of Saint Joseph’s Church in Auburn. A 40 year member of Mel’s bowling league and a member of the Columbus Civic Association in Worcester. Remo was a devoted husband, father and grandfather; his childhood friends were his friends for life.

He leaves his wife of 63 years, Virginia; two daughters, Gayle Carlson and her husband Kenneth of Worcester and Mary Brennan and her husband Jim of Pomfret, CT; and two sons; James Soloperto of Webster and Paul Soloperto and his wife Suzanne of Auburn. Remo also leaves his grandchildren, Jimmy, Dan, Alicia and Tom Brennan, Meghan Carlson, Lucas and Sofia Soloperto, and Sam and Max Soloperto; also survived by many nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. He was predeceased by his brother, Dr. John Soloperto and his wife, Sarah and two brother-in-laws, Vincent and James Ricardi.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the Staff of Notre Dame Long Term Care Center for their dedication and compassionate care.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Remo’s family on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 from 4:30-7:30 PM in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. His funeral will be on Thursday, February 4, 2016 from the funeral home with a funeral Mass at 10 AM in Saint Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford St, North. Burial with military honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
