Obituary for Claire M. Barry

AUBURN- Claire M. (Palmer) Barry, 90, of Auburn died Sunday, January 24, 2016 in Knollwood Nursing Center in West Boylston.

Claire was born in Worcester and raised in Auburn, daughter of the late Willis L. and Catherine G. (Conlon) Palmer. She graduated from Auburn High School.

She had worked at various jobs before she married Walter, once her children came along she was a full time stay at home mom and wife and cherished every minute of it. Claire also volunteered her time for many organizations throughout the Auburn community including the former Thrift Store at St. Joseph’s Church and she served as a census taker. Whenever anyone needed help Claire was always there to lend a hand.

Claire was predeceased by her loving husband, Walter W. Barry, Jr.. She leaves two sons, Jack Barry and his wife, Susan of Auburn, and Stephen A. Barry of Auburn; three grandchildren, Eric, Lauren and Adam Barry all of Auburn; two brothers, Paul J. Palmer of Ft. Myers, FL and John J. Palmer of West Yarmouth; one sister, Rosemary Spillane of Worcester; also survived by 31 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Kevin Barry who died in 2013 and by three siblings, Willis Palmer, Jean Provost, and Virginia Thompson.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Claire’s family on Thursday, January 28, 2016 from 4-7 PM in the BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Her funeral will be from the funeral home on Friday, January 29, 2016 with a funeral Mass at 10 AM in North American Martyr’s Church, 8 Wyoma Drive, Auburn. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. Memorial donations can be made to: JHC Hospice, 629 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA 01609.
