John Nicholas of Auburn died Wednesday, November 18, 2015, in his home. He was 72.
His wife of 42 years, Carol W. Nicholas, died in 2013. He leaves two daughters, Kristen Nicholas and Courtney Maleakas, and her husband, Chuck; his sister, Helen Nicholas; and two nephews, Nicholas Kiritsy and Max Nicholas-Fulmer. He is predeceased by his sister, Shirley Kiritsy, and his nephew, Matthew Kiritsy.

John was born in Worcester, son of the late Noel S. and Constance Nicholas. He graduated from Classical High School. After graduating, John enlisted in the United States Air Force from 1961 to 1965. John worked for Worcester Polytechnic Institute as a custodian and as a machinist for several years prior at Bay State Abrasives.

He was a very generous man who gave all he could to support his family, and he volunteered much of his time to friends and neighbors. He most recently volunteered at Step In Time helping care for preschoolers. He loved a good game of cards and especially liked to win playing against his wife. Devastated by her loss, he is with her now beating her at gin rummy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours in BRITTON-WALLACE FUNERAL HOME, 91 Central Street, Auburn, MA from 12-2 PM Saturday, November 28, 2015.
