Eileen L.  Creedon
SHREWSBURY- Eileen (Sheehan) “Mims” Creedon, 87, of Shrewsbury died Thursday, November 5, 2015 in St. Mary’s Health Care Center surrounded by her loving family.

Eileen was born in Boston, daughter of the late John and Esther (Estaver) Sheehan. She was raised in Worcester where she was educated at Blessed Sacrament School; she then entered in Notre Dame Academy in Tyngsboro and graduated from Lesley College in Boston. Eileen continued her education with graduate studies at Assumption College and Worcester State College.

During her professional career, Eileen was a kindergarten teacher in the Worcester Public Schools and also served as a substitute teacher for many years. With her love of children Eileen was actively involved with the Pine Tree Camp for physically and challenged children in Bath, Maine and the Girl Scouts of America Organization for 29 years. Eileen was very involved in Shrewsbury and the surrounding communities; she served as a Director of the Senior Center in Paxton, Auburn and Holliston; she was an Outreach Coordinator for the Council of Aging in Sutton and St. Paul’s Cathedral in Worcester; she was a religious education teacher for numerous parishes and was active with the Shrewsbury Parks and Recreation and the Council of Aging. Eileen was the founder of the Friends of the Shrewsbury Senior Center. Before going into retirement, she worked at the National Education for Assistance Dogs Services in Princeton. Eileen was a recipient of the Saint Anne’s Award for Outstanding Service to Young Women and the AARP Colonial Chapter National Women’s History Month Award.

Eileen was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, cherishing her time with many family members. You could always find her knitting, entertaining on her beloved back deck or writing letters to her countless friends.

Eileen’s husband of 60 years, Chandler P. Creedon, Sr., predeceased her in 2009. She leaves her eight children, Chandler P. Creedon, Jr., of Worcester, Connie Bartelson and her husband, Bob of Worcester, Neeni Francis and her husband, Chet of Hopedale, John W.S. Creedon, Sr., and his longtime companion, Cindy Deschenes of Sutton, Christine Creedon Bowens and her husband, Marx of Antigua, David Creedon of Shrewsbury, Patrick Creedon and his wife, Sue of Rocky Hill, CT and Michael Creedon and his wife, Terri of Woodstock, CT; seventeen grandchildren, Victoria Creedon, Gretchen Marino and her husband, Andy, Heather Bartelson and Brett Bartelson, Erin Bednarczyk and her husband Bob, Meaghan Matthews and her husband Jon, Cortland Francis, Micaela Francis and her fiancé, Filipe Cotas, John W.S. Creedon, Jr., and his wife, Shannon, Julie Linton and her husband, Michael, Andrea Creedon, Stephanie Creedon and Mary Catherine Creedon, Chase Creedon, Renee Creedon, Shannon Creedon and Chandler M. Creedon; also survived by eight great grandchildren, Dylan Loveless, Kelsey Rodas, Parker and Tate Matthews, John W.S. Creedon III, James Creedon and Brodie and Bryce Linton. Besides her parents, Eileen was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Sheehan.

Eileen’s entire family would like to deeply thank the wonderful staff at St. Mary’s Healthcare Center in Worcester where Eileen spent the last 10 months of her life.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Eileen’s family on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 from 4-7 PM in the BRITTON-SHREWBSURY FUNERAL HOME, 648 Main St, Shrewsbury. Her funeral will be on Thursday, November 12, 2015 from the funeral home with a funeral Mass at 10 AM in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main St, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in St. John Cemetery, Worcester.
