Marie E. (Dunn) Laviolette, 94, of Worcester, died peacefully Wednesday, September 30, 2015 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Her husband of 40 years, Henry P. Laviolette died in 1987. She leaves her children, John H. Laviolette and his wife, Diana of Worcester, Mary D. Laviolette, with whom Marie lived with, Ann L. Montiverdi and her husband, Michael of Sutton, Margaret E. Laviolette of Sturbridge and James J. Laviolette of Auburn; nine wonderful grandchildren, Jason, Jennifer, Michael, Michael, Andrea, Ryan, Amanda, Tara, and Erica; three great grandchildren, Parker, Leo and Lucia; also survived by several nieces, nephews and her beloved dog “Roxy”. She was predeceased by a brother, James Dunn, and a sister, Ella Gravelin.

She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late James J. and Ella (Mahoney) Dunn. She graduated from Saint Peter’s High School in 1939 and later from Saint Vincent School of Nursing in 1942. Marie extended her nursing education by attending many seminars throughout the years specializing in Operation Room Nursing.

Marie was an exceptional nurse in the OR for many years at Saint Vincent Hospital until she retired in 1983. She established a local chapter of AORN (Association of Operating Room Nurses) and held many positions with this group. She traveled extensively and enjoyed her beach house in Misquamicut, R.I. with her family.

Relative and friends of Marie’s are invited to attend a funeral Mass celebrating her life on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 10 AM in Saint Joseph’s Church, 189 Oxford Street North, Auburn. Burial will follow in the family lot at Saint John Cemetery, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Notre Dame Hospice, 555 Plantation St, Worcester, MA 01605.
