Obituary for Assunta Sarli
Assunta A. (Manzi) Sarli, 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on August 26, 2015 in Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester.
She was born in Laurenzana, Italy and immigrated to Worcester in 1961. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Giambattista Sarli; her cherished grandson, Joseph Webster; seven brothers and three sisters.
Assunta is survived by her devoted sons, John J. Sarli and his fiance’ Christine Allard of Auburn with whom she lived and Gerardo A. Sarli and his wife, Stephanie of Shrewsbury; daughters, Filomena Sarli, Maria Khalaf and her husband, Nazar, Amalia Webster and her husband, Paul all of Worcester, Pompea Halliday and her husband, Christopher and Susan Sarli both of Auburn, they will all miss the caring and dedicated person who they had the privilege to call Mom; also survived by her grandchildren Anthony, Alia, Sarah, Yusseff, Zackeria, Nicholas, Christopher, Adam, Nicole, John, Brianna and Marco; sister-in-law Emilia of Worcester, wife of her late brother Rocco Manzi; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins here in the US and in Italy.
Assunta was a very proud of her Italian heritage; she enjoyed cooking and had a green thumb which helped her take care of her plants and gardens. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren; she will be remembered by them all for her loving touch and wisdom.
Calling hours will be held privately. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral Mass that will be celebrated for Assunta on Monday, August 31, 2015 at 12 NOON in Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church, 194 Oxford St North, Auburn. Entombment will be in Notre Dame Mausoleum, Worcester. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name can be made to American Diabetes Association, 10 Speen St, Framingham, MA or to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St, Framingham, MA.
