AUBURN- Janet L. (Mortimer) MacMillan, 74, of Auburn, died Thursday June 25, 2015 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

She leaves her husband and best friend of 52 years, Charles E. MacMillan; a son, William L. MacMillan and his wife, Stacey of Worcester; a daughter, Jennifer L. Keaney and her husband, Bernard of Worcester; two grandchildren, Bethany Cogoli and her husband, Matthew and Liberty MacMillan, all of Worcester; three great grandchildren, Connor, Rosalynn and Clara; and her best friend, Martha Levine of Boynton Beach, Florida. She was predeceased by a son, Scott C. MacMillan.

Janet was born in Southbridge, daughter of the late Walter and Naomi (Brous) Mortimer. She was raised in Auburn and graduated from Auburn High School in 1959. Janet continued her education and graduated from the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing in 1962. After graduation, Janet had worked as a Registered Nurse for Hahnemann Hospital for many years. She later accepted a job and several positions with the American Red Cross Blood Services and Fallon Pediatrics before she retired.

In her retirement, she attended Anna Maria College in Paxton and received a certificate from the Parish Nurse Program. Janet held the special privilege of being the Parish Nurse for her beloved church, Hadwen Park Congregational Church in Worcester.

She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, nurse and friend to so many; she will be missed dearly by all that knew her. Janet was a faithful member of Hadwen Park Congregational Church where she was the chairperson of the Board of Trustees, served as a deacon and the Parish Nurse for many years. She also was an active member of MGH Nursing Alumni Association.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at 10 AM at Hadwen Park Congregational Church, 6 Clover St, Worcester. Burial will be private in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hadwen Park Congregational Church Memorial Fund, 6 Clover St, Worcester, MA 01603.
