William J. “Bill” Martin, 60, of Leominster, formerly of Shrewsbury, died Saturday, May 16, 2015, in Leicester surrounded by his family.

Bill leaves a daughter, Debbie (Garron) Magliaro and her husband, Tim of Worcester; his parents, Ruth and Chris Manos of Boylston; his siblings and their families, Cheryl M. McIntosh of Westborough, Susan J. Adams of Shrewsbury, Michael K. Manos of Uxbridge, Joseph D. Manos of Westborough, and Christina M. Manos of Shrewsbury. He is also survived by two grandchildren.

He was born in Worcester and graduated from Shrewsbury High School. Bill was trained as a welder and worked in ship yards along the east coast for many years.

Bill became licensed as a ham radio operator at the young age of 14. His call letters, “WA1-OBD” were known to hundreds of fellow hams. Other passions included fishing and playing guitar.

Funeral services were held privately. Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St, Shrewsbury assisted with arrangements.
