SHREWSBURY- Richard J. “Richie” Dube, Jr, 24, of Shrewsbury died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 13, 2015.

Richie was born on May 2, 1991, in Worcester, son of Richard J. Dube, Sr. and Cynthia A. (Kosak) Dube. He graduated from Shrewsbury High School in 2009. While in high school, he was a talented athlete who played baseball and was known as the energetic “punt returner man” for the football team. He attended Worcester State University where he was majoring in History, and continuing his love for football while achieving the honor of being a pre-season All-American punt returner.

Richie’s personality was bigger than life. When he walked into a room, the room always became brighter with fun and laughter. He was charming, intelligent and motivated. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his siblings who cared so much about him.

He leaves his loving family: his parents, Richard J. Dube, Sr. of Worcester and Cynthia A. (Kosak) Dube of Shrewsbury; Molly Williams and her husband, T.J. of Worcester, Ryan J. Dube, Meredith E. Dube, Kevin P. Dube, all of Shrewsbury, and Jacqueline R. Dube of Worcester; his maternal grandmother, Bernardine M. (O’Neil) of Yarmouthport; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Richie’s family on Monday, May 18, 2015, from 4-8 PM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral will be on Tuesday, May 19, 2015, with his funeral Mass celebrated at 11:00 AM in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be private.
