Obituary for Isabel J. Spreadbury

Isabel J.  Spreadbury
SHREWSBURY/NORTHBOROUGH- Isabel J. (Falso) Spreadbury, 91, of Shrewsbury and Northborough died Saturday April 4, 2015 in The Reservoir Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Marlborough after an illness.

Her husband, Walter G. Spreadbury died in 2009. She leaves behind her son, Kevin J. Spreadbury and his wife, Mary of Worcester; her daughter, Janice L. Spreadbury of Westborough; two grandchildren, Katy A. Spreadbury of Manhattan, NY and Christopher K. Spreadbury of Worcester; three sisters, Theresa Lada of Webster, Marion Antkowiak of Dudley and Pauline Aucoine of Dudley. She was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Falso and a sister, Nancy Streich.

Isabel was born in Webster, daughter of the late Vincent and Rose Mary (Cannalonga) Falso. She graduated from Bartlett High School in Webster in 1941and Becker College in Worcester in 1947.

Isabel stated her working career at American Optical in Southbridge; this is where she met her husband, Walter. She then worked a Norton Company for only one year before she and her husband, Walter relocated their family to Spain for two years, for Walter’s job with the Norton Company. They returned back to Massachusetts in 1968. Isabel later worked as an Insurance Specialist for State Mutual Insurance Company in Worcester for fifteen years before she retired.

She was a faithful member of Saint Mary’s Parish in Shrewsbury; a former member of the Shrewsbury Women’s Business Club, and was active at the Shrewsbury Senior Center. While living in Northborough she was a member of the Northborough Garden Club; the Women’s Club; the Alter Society of St. Rose of Lima Church and was once a Girl Scout Leader. Her other memberships included The Smithsonian Institute, National Geographic, The Worcester Art Museum and she enjoyed taking ceramic and sewing classes.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Isabel’s family on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from 9:30-10:30 AM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Her funeral Mass will follow at 11:00AM in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Memorial donations can be made to The Clara Barton Center for Diabetes Education, 30 Ennis Road, North Oxford, MA 01537-0356.
