Obituary for Shirley E. Cantwell (Blackstone)
Auburn- Shirley E. (Blackstone) Cantwell, formerly of Berlin Street, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015 in LifeCare Center of Auburn at the age of 91.
Her husband, Leon C. Cantwell died in 1984. She leaves two daughters, Patricia A. Tobin and her husband James of Dexter, ME and Judith L. Turcotte and her husband Russell of Auburn; her son, William C. Cantwell and his wife Jacquelyn of Merrimack, NH; 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her brother, Frederick W. Blackstone, Jr. Her family would like to thank all the staff at LifeCare Center of Auburn for the care they provided.
Shirley was born and raised in Auburn, daughter of the late Frederick W. and Maude Una (Long) Blackstone, Sr. She graduated from Auburn High School and has been a lifelong resident of Auburn. Working as homemaker and raising her family, she later worked for Thompson Wire until her retirement in 1984. Shirley loved animals and enjoyed the Boston Red Sox.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Shirley’s family on Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 9:00-11:00AM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A graveside service will follow at 11:30am in Hillside Cemetery, Auburn. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association of Central Massachusetts, 128 Providence, Street, Worcester, MA 01604 or to: LifeCare Center of Auburn, Activities Department, 14 Masonic Circle, Auburn, MA 01501.
