Obituary for Alexander Bilzerian

Alexander  Bilzerian
WORCESTER- Alexander Bilzerian, 89, of Worcester, died Wednesday, February 11, 2015 in Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital in Boston after an illness.
His wife, Stella (Stavrou) Bilzerian died in 1994. He leaves his children, Donna A. Pietrewicz of Lake Havasu, AZ, Alexander Bilzerian and his wife, Joanne of Holden, Ann Bilzerian of Edgartown, MA, and Katherine Dodakian and her husband, Gary of Shrewsbury, ten grandchildren, Rachelle, Jacqueline, Kara, Jason, Laura, Alex, Peter, Maria, Gary Peter and Rebecca; eight great grandchildren; a brother, Arthur Bilzerian and his wife, Marie of Worcester; a sister-in-law, Mary Rossetti of Worcester and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, David and Oscar Bilzerian; a sister, Margaret Abajian and a brother-in-law, John Rossetti.
Alexander was born in Worcester, son of the late Alexander and Lucy (Danielian) Bilzerian. He graduated from Commerce High School and Worcester Art Museum. Mr. Bilzerian served his country proudly with the United States Army during W.W. II. He received a Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his combat action in Belgium, France and Germany.
Before retiring, he was employed as a commercial artist for Simplex Time Recorder. As a true artist, Alexander was detailed oriented an a perfectionist with all his works. He enjoyed painting with oils, watercolors, and pen and ink sketches. He could also find time for a round or two of golf. In his early years, he was involved in both golf and bowling leagues.
The Bilzerian family wishes to thank the Nursing, CNA, and activities staff of the Armenian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jamaica Plain. We would like to especially acknowledge Paulina Charles Pierce for all her compassionate care that she gave to Mr. Bilzerian and his family.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Alexander’s family on Friday, February 13, 2015 from 4-7 PM. Calling hours will be at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral service will be on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at 11 AM in the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street, Worcester. Burial, with military honors, will follow at the Hope Cemetery in Worcester. Memorial donations can be made to the Armenian Church of Our Saviour, 87 Salisbury Street, Worcester, MA.
