Gregory A "Greg"  Palmerino


STURBRIDGE- Gregory A. Palmerino, 69, of Sturbridge died peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at the UMass Memorial Medical Center- University Campus after a long illness in his battle with cancer surrounded by his family and several close friends and his dog "MAC".

He leaves his wife of 32 years, Linda M. (Michalak) Palmerino, his son, Tony Palmerino of Dudley and their grandchildren, Tyler A. Palmerino of Ft. Drumm, Watertown, N. Y. and Tori E. Palmerino of Dudley; His mother, Claire O. (Paquette) Palmerino of Florida; his sister Nancy O. Palmerino of Arlington, Va., two brothers, Kim A. Palmerino of Manchester, CT., Charles Palmerino and his wife, Helene Palmerino of Southbridge; father-in-law Edward F. Michalak of Shrewsbury and his late mother-in-law Lucy M. Michalak; brother-in-law, of Daniel D. Michalak of Canajoharie, N. Y.; several nieces and nephews and extended family.

Greg was born in Portsmouth, N. H. son of the late Anthony G. Palmerino. His father worked in the Portsmouth Navy Yard for several years. At the end of the war in 1945, his parents moved back to Southbridge.

Greg grew up in Southbridge, after High School he enlisted into the United States Army in August of 1969, where he served for three years which included a tour in Vietnam. After Vietnam Greg was stationed at Ft. Benning, Georgia until his duty ended in August 1966. He returned to Southbridge where he worked in his father’s business Palmerino Wholesalers, Inc. and eventually owned and operated it with his brother, Chuck.

Greg was a member of Saint John Paul II Parish in Southbridge, Massachusetts. He was a life member of the Hamilton Rod and Gun Club, in Sturbridge, where he was also a past President. He enjoyed archery, the rifle and pistol range, trap shooting, golfing and fishing.

Greg was a loving, kind, gentle and devoted husband and father, son, brother and uncle. He will be so greatly missed. We love you Greg.


Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Greg's family on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 2 to 5 PM at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral will be held on Monday, January 26, 2015 from the funeral home with a funeral Mass celebrated at 11 AM in Saint Anne's Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, burial with Military Honors will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, 162 Webster Street Worcester, Massachusetts 01603. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Greg may be made to Saint John Paul II Parish, 279 Hamilton Street, Southbridge, Massachusetts 01550-1815.
