Mary E. (Doherty) Hamilton, 83, of Auburn died Monday, January 12, 2015 in her home surrounded by her loving family.

Her husband, Charles P. Hamilton, Jr. passed in 2006. She leaves her children, Theresa A. Hamilton and husband Michael Tift of Millbury, Frances M. Ward of Auburn, Victoria L. Flood and her husband David of Orange, Charles A. Hamilton and wife Pamela of Leicester, and Anthony P. Hamilton and his wife Dianna of Dudley; ten grandchildren, one great grandson and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by six siblings and one grandson.

Mary was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Phillip and Ida (Hoyt) Doherty. She graduated from Commerce High School. Mary worked at Imperial Distributors for several years until she retired.

Mary and her husband spent many years traveling. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and she spent many hours building dollhouses that she gave away to less fortunate children.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mary’s family on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 9:00-10:15 A.M. at Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. Mary’s funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. in Sacred Heart-St. Catherine of Sweden Church, 600 Cambridge Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Saint John’s Cemetery, Worcester, MA.
