Obituary for Milton R. Landry Sr.

Milton R. Landry Sr.
Milton Richard Landry, Sr., 86, passed away quietly in his home on December 15, 2014 surrounded by his family.

Milton was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He was the loving father of 14 children. Milton is survived by his wife, Barbara A. (Gregory) Landry ; his children Lynn Couture and her husband, Paul, Susan Burns and her husband, Walter, Barbara Shea, Charles, Joseph, Paul and his wife, Ellen, Peter, David and his wife, Nancy, Mary and her wife, Betty Brigham, Carolyn Leonard and her husband, Martin, Milton Jr. and his wife, Shirley, Stephen and his wife, Michele, Christopher and his wife, Denise and a sister, Jeannette Hayes. He was a doting grandfather to 18 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his eldest child, Richard in 2006, his brother, Norman, his sisters, Dorothy “Mae” Donovan and Leona Goodell.

Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Charles and Henrietta (Blanchard) Landry. After graduating from South High School in Worcester, Milton married his high school sweetheart, Barbara on February 10, 1948 and together they created a strong loving family. He was a wonderful husband and father who bent over backwards to support his families’ individual endeavors.

Milton was the President/Owner of Dalco Contracting whose many projects can be found throughout Worcester County at schools, parks and private homes. He was a member of the Adelphi Council # 4181 Knights of Columbus, the Harmony Club and he attended weekly Mass at Saint Mary’s Church in Shrewsbury.

Family vacations were never far from the seashore where Milton drew great inspiration from the ocean. He enjoyed many deep-sea- fishing weekends with his sons and daughters. In his retirement years, Milton enjoyed following C-Span as a result of his interest in politics and government issues. He could give a short bio on any legislator in the House or Senate. His self- taught computer skills allowed for Milton to keep up with world events and his love for the stock market by online trading.
He inspired his children with his steadfast character and noble spirit. He will remain forever in our hearts. The family would like to thank the Gentiva Hospice staff who assisted in Milton’s care.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Milton’s family on Thursday December 18, 2014 from 4-7 PM in the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main Street, Shrewsbury. His funeral will be on Friday December 19, 2014 with a funeral Mass celebrated at 10 AM in Saint Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
