Obituary for Wiliam G. "Obie" O'Brien, Jr.

SHREWSBURY- William G. “Obie” O’Brien, Jr, 84, of Shrewsbury died Tuesday, December 9, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Obie leaves his wife of 64 years, Doris A. (Taylor) O’Brien; five children, Helen C. DiPilato and her husband, Joseph of Osterville, Patrice M. Palermo and her husband, John of Oxford, Suzanne Carelli and her husband, Thomas of Oxford, Lisa Ryan and her husband, Michael of Whitinsville and William G. O’Brien III and his wife, Nina of Shrewsbury; 12 grandchildren, Christopher and Dean DiPilato, Jonna and Jay Palermo, Brian, Craig and Kevin Carelli, Kilian and Taylor Ryan, Catherine, William IV, and Meghan O’Brien; three great grandchildren, Jacob, Ryan and Major DiPilato; also survived by a sister, Beverly Bertrand of Worcester and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald O’Brien.

Obie was employed for over 22 years as a supervisor for Consolidated Freight Ways. He also enjoyed working for the Town of Shrewsbury at the Rep. Leo R. Corazzini Boat Ramp for several years. Family was everything to Bill, “he was a great husband, dad, and grandfather”.

He was a member of Saint Anne’s Parish in Shrewsbury.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend William’s funeral Mass on Friday, December 12, 2014 at 11 AM in Saint Anne’s Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury. Memorial donations can be made to Saint Anne’s Human Services, 130 Boston Turnpike, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
