Obituary for Shirley E. Hagberg (Wilson)

AUBURN- Shirley E. (Wilson) Hagberg, 85 years old, of Auburn MA died peace-fully on September 26, 2014 while residing at The Lutheran Healthcare Center on Harvard Street.

She was born on September 10, 1929 in Worcester MA, the only daughter of Ammon “Budd” and Eleanor (Archibald) Wilson who moved to Worcester from New Brunswick, Canada. She is predeceased by her much-loved husband of 67 years, Carl Hagberg. Shirley leaves a large, loving family including her son, Richard and wife, Debra of Auburn and their 2 daughters, Alexis and Alana with whom she lived, daughter, Judy and husband, George Sherry of Maine and their 5 children, daughter, Lisa Brooks of Auburn and her 2 children, and son, Carl Hagberg Jr. of Worcester and his 2 sons. In addition to her beloved grandchildren, Shirley leaves 17 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces, 1 nephew and her dog Flicka.

Shirley attended school in Worcester and later in Auburn where she met and married Carl on February 12, 1947. She worked part-time at local area florists and H.C. Hook Company, Auburn, for many years. Besides her immense love of animals (particularly dogs), Shirley enjoyed yearly trips to Florida, bowling, playing cards and was known as an avid hockey mom in her earlier days.

The family would like to express their gratitude to all of their friends for their sup-port and condolences during this time. They would especially like to thank Dr. Shenbagaon Dewar, Pat Lazarak, and all of the nurses and staff at Summit Elder Care on Grafton Street, Worcester for their kindness and superb care during Shirley’s illness.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Shirley’s family on Saturday, October 4, 2014 from 9:30-10:30 AM in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St, Auburn.
A service honoring Shirley’s life will begin at 10:30 AM. Burial will follow in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. Flowers may be sent or donations can be made to the MSPCA, 350 Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02130.
