AUBURN- Thomas F. “Tom” George, 79, of Auburn, MA, died Thursday, September 18, 2014.

He leaves two children, his son, Jeffrey George and his wife, Robin Rodney of Auburn, and his daughter, Laurie (George) Valliere of Uncasville, CT; his grandchildren, Daniel Backes, Cassie Harvey, Cody Valliere, Jacklyn Rodney, Jennifer McCourt, Alexis Rodney; his two sisters, Mary George and Lorraine Castell. He was predeceased by his sisters, Florence Morang, Dorothy Gleason, and Arline Gleason.

Tom was born in Worcester, a son of the late Thomas C. and Laura L. (Beauchemin) George. He graduated from Commerce High School in Worcester MA and enlisted in the US Air Force from 1953 and was honorably discharged in 1957. He graduated from Worcester State College with a teaching degree in 1961. He later continued his education while teaching at Springfield Public Schools and earned a Master’s Degree from Westfield State College and advanced graduate study at University of Massachusetts. He lived in Wilbraham, MA until he retired from teaching after 35 years. He enjoyed golf, gardening and watching old movies.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, September 22, 2014 from 12-1:00pm in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., Auburn, MA. A prayer service will follow at 1PM in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester.
