Muriel  Sliney (Bradley)
AUBURN-Muriel (Bradley) Sliney, 73, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2014, at St. Vincent’s Hospital with her family at her side after a battle with Parkinson’s disease and diabetes.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 50 years Richard Sliney, and their daughters; Marcella Sliney and her husband Brendan Gilroy of South Boston, Ann Marie Kelleher and her husband Paul of Plymouth, grandchildren Kieran and Ailish Kelleher of Plymouth and Colmn Gilroy of South Boston, she leaves many nieces and nephews in London and Ireland.
Muriel is survived by her brothers in London, and Ireland, and is preceded in death by a brother martin and sisters Terry and Ann in London and Ireland.
She was born in Lisburn in County Antrim in Northern Ireland. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Anna (Lennon) Bradley. She was educated in the Sacred Heart Academy in Lisburn, Northern Ireland, and graduated from the Whittington School of Nursing in Archway, London.
Muriel worked as a nurse for many years at the Whittington Hospital in London, before immigrating to the US in 1967. She worked at the former Doctor’s Hospital in Worcester and in private duty for many years.
Muriel’s greatest treasure was her family. In her spare time she enjoyed painting, reading and knitting.
The Sliney family would like to thank the staff of the ICU at St. Vincent’s Hospital, the 2nd Floor Nursing staff, and the staff of Summit Elder Care on Grafton Street, and Muriel’s dear friend and caretaker Elaine for their kindness and exceptional care shown to Muriel and her family.
Her funeral will be held Thursday August 28, 2014 with a Mass celebrated at 1PM in North American Martyrs Church, 8 Wyoma Drive in Auburn, after which light refreshments will be served in the Parish hall. Burial in Vine Hills Cemetery in Plymouth will be held privately.
