Glenn E.  Mitchell
AUBURN- Glenn E. Mitchell, 78, of Auburn died Wednesday in St. Vincent’s Hospital after a brief illness.
His wife Bette J. (Rehn) Mitchell died in 2011.
Glenn leaves his son Captain Jeffrey C. Mitchell, and his wife Pamela, a daughter Diane F. Mahlert and her husband William all of Auburn, his loving grandchildren; Tanya F. Hakala of Dover, NH, Amy L. Mitchell of Auburn, Ashley M. Mitchell of Millbury, and Stacy J. Mitchell of Auburn, and a great grandson, Evan M. Roberts of Auburn, a sister Joyce Wooldridge of East providence, RI, and a brother Ernest Mitchell, and his wife Karen of Windham, ME, and several nieces and nephews.
Glenn was born in Brattleboro, VT. He was the son of the late Herbert and Eleanor (Brown) Mitchell; he attended Auburn schools, and graduated from Auburn High School.
Glenn worked for the town of Auburn for nearly 40 years, serving as the Highway Surveyor, Tree Warden and Deputy Chief of the Auburn Fire Department, retiring in 1999
He had previously owned and operated the G.E. Mitchell Construction, Co.
Mr. Mitchell loved being outdoors tending to his large vegetable garden, or hunting with his metal detector, he enjoyed monthly trips to the casino.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday August 17, 2014 from 4-7 in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street in Auburn. His funeral will be held Monday August 18th at 10 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery.
