Obituary for
Hedwig Courcy
AUBURN/OCALA, FL- Hedwig (Czajkowski) “Hedy” Courcy of Auburn, died Friday, April 11, 2014 in Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester after an illness.
Her husband, Leonid C. Courcy, Sr. died in 2003. She leaves a son, Leonid C. Courcy of Auburn and a daughter, Patricia Coates and her husband, James of Fairfax, VA; three grandchildren, James M. Coates and his wife, Shannon of Leesburg, VA; Kristen Lash and her husband, Timothy of Aldie, VA and Deanna Coates of Fairfax, VA; two great grandchildren, Sophie and Oliver Lash; two sisters, Antoinette of Auburn and Rose of Davenport, Florida and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, Frankie, Johnny, Bernard, and Edward and three sisters, Helen, Sophie and Jenny
Hedwig was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late John and Bessie (Polenski) Czajkowski. She attended Worcester schools. She moved to Auburn in 1945 then to Florida upon retiring in 1986. Hedwig moved back to Auburn in 2007 to be closer to her family.
She was an accomplished seamstress, retiring from the David Clark Company in Worcester. While working at the David Clark Company, she had a memorable opportunity to meet several space astronauts who visited the company to witness their space suits being manufactured.
At Hedwig’s request, all services will be private. She will be laid to rest alongside her husband in Arlington National Cemetery. Arrangements are being directed by the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn.
