Obituary for Stephen A. Anderson Sr.

Senior Chief Stephen A. Anderson, Sr. USN (RET), 64, formerly of Worcester died Saturday, March 29, 2014 in Lawrence Memorial Hospital in New London, CT after a long battle with cancer.

For nearly 30 years, Stephen served his country in the United States Navy, retiring in 1997 as an Electronics Technician Senior Chief (SW). Stephen’s career brought him from Worcester to Illinois, Florida, Virginia, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, New York, Hawaii and Connecticut.

He leaves a son, Stephen A. Anderson, Jr., of Hope Valley, RI a daughter, Erin Martin of Buffalo, NY; six grandchildren, Stephen A. Anderson ,III, Hannah L. Anderson and Emily Rose Anderson all of Hope Valley, RI and Jacob Foss, Miranda Foss and Cameron Martin also of Buffalo, NY; his father, Herbert Anderson of New York; his mother and step-father, Shirley (Warren) and Roy Harrison of Worcester; his siblings, Marilyn Bonnivier of New York, John W. Anderson and his wife, Maureen of Shrewsbury and Sharon Green and her husband, David Vinick of Morrisville, VT; also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 31 years, Rosemary M. (Raymond) Anderson in July of 2000.

Stephen loved his family, especially his 6 grandchildren, who were precious to him. He also enjoyed many hobbies such as, gardening, collecting and building model trains, woodworking, watching the cooking channel, reading and playing golf.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Stephen’s family on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 11 AM until 12 NOON in the Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central Street, Auburn. A Service celebrating his life will begin at 12 Noon with burial following in Hillside Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project (woundedwarriorproject.org).
