Mary A. "Mae"  Brennan
SHREWSBURY- Mary A. "Mae" (Whalen) Brennan, 97, of Shrewsbury, died Monday in the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence after an illness.
She was the wife of the late John J. Brennan, who predeceased her in 1981, after 61 years together.
She is survived by her three sons; John J. Brennan and his wife Janie of Spencer, Neil P. Brennan and his wife Patti of Cape Cod, and William P. Brennan of Shrewsbury, four grandchildren; Jeanne Krawetzky of Coventry CT, Tracy Hogan of Clemmons, NC, Kevin Brennan of Worcester, Todd Brennan of Racine WI and four great grandchildren, Cian Finn Hogan, Kate Krawetzky, Christiane Raine Brennan and Caroline Hogan.
Mae was born and raised in Worcester, daughter of the late Patrick and Nora (Hurley) Whalen. She graduated from Commerce High School. She moved to Shrewsbury in 1950;
Mrs. Brennan worked for many years at the Lincoln Street branch of the Worcester Girls Club, and their camp in Holden. She later worked at the Ward Hill ski area, and served her community as a Precinct Worker for the Shrewsbury town elections.
She was a member of the Shrewsbury Women’s Club, the Daughters of Isabella Adelphi Circle 1089 and was an original alumnus of the Worcester Girls Club. Mrs. Brennan was a member of St. Mary’s Parish in Shrewsbury and a former member of its Women’s League, the Colonial Chapter of the A.A.R.P of Shrewsbury, a member of the Busy Hands Knitting Group, and was an active volunteer for the Shrewsbury Senior Center. Mae spent summers in Dennisport, Cape Cod. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and solving crossword puzzles.
Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service held in Mountain View Cemetery at 11:00 AM Thursday December 13, 2012
