Obituary for Robert Clifford "Red" Ljunggren

Robert Clifford "Red"  Ljunggren
Robert C. "Red" Ljunggren, born in Worcester on October 4, 1938, son of the late Ivar and Edel (Paulson) Ljunggren, passed onto his lord September 13, 2012 with his loving family at his side. He is survived by his beloved wife Brenda (Beckman) Ljunggren of 51 years, his two sons, Robert C. Ljunggren Jr. and his wife Lynn of Shrewsbury and James D Ljunggren and his wife Stephanie of Auburn, along with his grandchildren Jesse, David, Ashley and Samantha. He also leaves two brothers, Paul Ljunggren and his wife RoseAnn of Oxford MA, Jon Ljunggren and his Wife Claudia of Vienna, Maine, along with several nieces and nephews.
He graduated from Worcester Boys Trade School in 1957 after studying automotive repair. A lifelong resident of Shrewsbury, Red grew up in the Edgemere area of town. Bob worked at the Worcester State Hospital before beginning his career as a second generation fire fighter in 1966. After his retirement in 1999, he still loved to stop in and visit his friends at the fire department. Bob enjoyed spending his summers at Cape Cod, and weekends on his boat on Lake Quinsigamond. His greatest joy was spending time with his four grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the medical staff that assisted in his care. Calling hours will be held Sunday, September, 16th from 5-8 PM at the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St, Shrewsbury. His funeral will be celebrated on Monday, September 17th at 10:00 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 73 Lancaster St in Worcester. Burial will follow in Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Shrewsbury Fire and Police Relief Association, PO Box 53, Shrewsbury MA 01545 or The Auburn Police Canine Unit, 416 Oxford St Auburn, MA 01501.
